what a fascinating country

I have been meaning to come here for a long time. Back in the day it was only possible to get an 8 day visa, much too short to even scratch the surface. Now that it’s possible to stay longer, I decided to make the trip. I was specifically interested in two areas, Bagan and Inle Lake, and that’s where I went.

I must admit, I was a little under-whelmed by the local food. I also found travelling on my own quite expensive. Hotels and guesthouses which can accommodate foreign tourists need to have a special licence, which I think drives prices up. Compared to Vietnam, for example, hotel rates are extremely high, and the standard nowhere near as good as in Vietnam.
