I have just returned from my latest trip to Vietnam, and on this page you can find information about the hotels I stayed in. The hotels are listed in geographical order (the direction in which I traveled).

Ho Chi Minh City (in the south of Vietnam it’s referred to as Saigon)

Vy Khan Guesthouse http://vykhanh-guesthouse.com/

This is a smallish place, right in the backpacker area of HCMC. The rooms and bathrooms are very clean.

Moevenpick Saigon Hotel

My last night splurge before heading for the airport the next day

Ben Tre (Mekong Delta)

Oasis Hotel (Ken’s Place)  http://bentrehoteloasis.com/

I stayed here for a few days and had a great time. Ken and Lieu are lovely hosts, who really looked after me. The staff is well trained and speaks good English.

Dalat

Dreams 1 Hotel (there are now 3 Dreams hotels in Dalat) http://www.dreamshoteldalat.com/

I stayed here for a few days, and did a full day tour by scooter.

Nha Trang

Riptide Homestay-Guesthouse-B&B (Owen’s Place) http://www.homestaynhatrang.com/

I stayed here for a few days and head a great time. Did a Harley tour with Owen, which was very informative. Although a little out of town, everything is still within walking distance.

Hanoi

Rising Dragon Cathedral http://risingdragonhotel.com/cathedral-hotel/

This was my favourite hotel in Hanoi (and I have stayed in about six different hotels). The rooms are clean and large, and have refrigerator, which I really love. I wish they would offer baguettes for breakfast, which taste so much better than boring toast. My only misgiving was the price which I was charged for the overnight trip to Mai Chau. Otherwise really lovely staff, happy to assist. The Rising Dragon Cathedral is within walking distance from the Old Quarter, the lake, Opera House, and many other places tourists like to visit.

Mai Chau

My Nature Place Riverside Bungalows

Very basic accommodation. The food was fine, even tried fried grasshoppers (well, just one!), reasonably priced beer and wine.

The best part was arranging a motorbike (scooter) 1/2 day tour with the guides. Plenty of fun, good price.
